It is designed to impart essential knowledge and skills to safeguard district digital systems and the wealth of sensitive school data from diverse cyber threats. Covering a broad spectrum of topics, the course delves into areas such as personally identifiable information (PII), importance of FERPA, COPPA, and CIPA laws, types of cyber crimes, network security, identity management, vulnerability assessment, and incident response. Participants learn about their legal responsibilities, how to navigate the complex cyber threat landscape, develop strategies for secure system design, the need for student cyber awareness instruction, and gain valuable resources for support. Emphasis is also placed on understanding the importance of security policies, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and fostering a culture of security awareness.
