Description
This course provides a high-level overview of the Science of Reading (SOR), a interdisciplinary research-based approach to reading instruction. Participants will explore the rationale behind the nation-wide shift to Structured Literacy (SL), and impact of new educator certification legislation on professional development requirements. We will explore the key elements of the Structured Literacy classroom and impactful evidence-based instruction. This session is designed to stimulate conversation around the monumental change in reading instruction, and to cultivate a collective wisdom of literacy as a civil right for all children.
